Yossam posted his take on this Ashkelon terrain, so I thought I would give it a try also. :-))

Really cool!
Though, maybe the strata colour is a bit too strong and regular looking?
Still love the epic scale here on this classic terrain!

I think the regular strata fit the regular landscape.
Interesting, how "earthly", if not natural, this version looks in comparison to many of the older Ashkelons.

Very nice! Maybe apply rule of thirds, have the atmos part smaller? Also my eyes keep wandering off to the left, the part where the mountain "ends".

A nice softness to this scene. Did you use the 'cubic spleen' filter? I agree about the rule of thirds. Maybe move the camera to the left a bit; also, down a bit to achieve the 1/3 sky; 2/3 terrain.

You have a nice soft feel to this one. I agree that you should maybe experiment with the camera position, I'm not so bothered by rule of thirds but the empty area beyond the terrain to the left drawing my attention to nothing? Just a thought: try a second distant copy of the terrain to fill the gap.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

Thanks to all for the replies. I will watch more closely the rule of 1/3s. But I really don't mind the eye being drawn to the left, in fact, I kind of liked it. :-))) Oh, well.

I think this image does conform to the rules of third already... Look at the horizon.
In that regard I would maybe have rotated the camera to show a little more to whats left of frame. But really at this size the image looks quite nice. and I like looking at the strata and coloring in the major wall on the right.
Its probably just fine the way it is.
Even so, I like the over all feel of what is shown. And if it were mine I would consider a panorama (if I knew what was on the left and right side).
These formations and shapes feel more like fiction to me than natural. But I like them quite a lot for that reason. I got The file in sharing too, saving em for a rainy day.
It has been eaten.
