Hi,

Look here
[attach=1]

Im not at all sure, but can that glow blur be rendered? Don't want to do it in post. Will if I have to, but would like to get the effect in app. Any Ideas?

I am attaching a uv mapped object for anyone who wants to have a try. I really have no ideas based on previous work with luminance and such. But being able to do it would help me with lots of ideas. (there is no texture on the object)

Thanks for thinking on it.

I was trying to see if something from Blender might be used, but I don't this it has the balls for the job.

Can't you do something with shining local cloud balls? Like the flak I posted a while ago. Objects won't work I'm afraid, and unfortunately planets (and their clouds) don't populate.

TheBadger

Link Ulco? I dont remember at all the thread you mentioned.

can't find it as fast as I would like, so here goes.

TheBadger

Thanks Ulco. But I am guessing what you want me to see there, I need TG3 for. Won't have that until the end of the month.
Probably just put this on the back burner for a couple more weeks.

Thanks Ulco. Its a good start.

The only problem I see is being able to limit the clouds to the area around the sphere.
Being able to control clouds with objects (cloud shape and position) would be great here. Also, its pretty hard if not impossible to make tiny clouds with any detail like you can have on massive cloud-scapes.

But like I said, a good start for me. Im sure I will use it in the image.

I don't think you need the spheres with this setup. You can fake spheres with the (inner) cloud balls. Unless you specifically need to texture the balls (wrinkled skin?).

Not at all sure what you mean???

I was also thinking I could just use a light in place of the object. THat could be a way to do embers, though embers were not my first goal on this.

I sent you the tgd; there are 2 cloud layers in there, the upper one having a different color adjust so you can sharpen the 'ball'.  It's a matter of playing with these balls, so to speak, to get a sharp inner one and a vague outer one, both can have their shininess adjusted.
Lights won't work as nice, as you have to set AA quite high to get rid of the embers. I tried it, and the balls are more subtle. But if you need embers, that works as well, but you need to place all lights by hand.
