Still some issues with this but I want to play with the new update! I'd still like to hear your comments though.

Really nice composition. A lot of contrast gives like a faerie landscape view.

Nice details on rocks.

Well that's pretty cool! Looks like a fantasy. Please continue with this. Its got a great spirit in it.

Just to throw impressions at you. I feel like the snow is wrong (in this unfinished version) If you like the feel though, perhaps ash instead of snow? Maybe a big mean active volcano in the distance?

I mean it seams like a serene place. But those clouds hint at some trouble anyway. So maybe its not as happy a place as I first felt it was?

;D I like it man.

Yeah - snow and I don't get on! will play with that some more. Rock strata is my softer voronoi cracks and I spent a lot of time on the lichen.  Now that 3.1 is out I want to model some moss to add to rocks but I need to do some research first. I also want to play with wally's lichen model(if I can find it!).  Volcano in background is a great idea and a new challenge so I might go for that.

Oh heck yeah! That should be pretty easy to place now. Not to mention that we can put it on objects now  :)

By the way your cracks look great especially on the background mountain on the right side. That looks fantastic.
But on the main forms in the front, I think to much of a good thing maybe. Feels like it needs just a few places that are smooth and mostly un affected. Just an opinion.

You are right Michael but I've failed totally to mask it - I seem to get all or nothing! will have to go back to the drawing board on that one.

I really like this quite a lot. Great texturing and overall feel, and the clouds are particularly stand-out with unusual but still realistic variation and multiple-layer look. There does appear to be something "off" to my eye in the scale, e.g. the background mountain doesn't look as big as you'd expect, but it may just be one of those tricks of perception...

The contrasts bring about the nice depth including clear and sharp details. I like this image a lot.

Oshyan the scales are correct but I agree there's something odd about it.  I struggled with it for some time but in the end settled for this.  In my next pic I'm going to explore the problem of scale in more detail and with more rigour!
