Lack of axis on imported object

When I create an object such as a sphere in TG there is an axis that I can select and move the object where I want it.
When I use the add object>object>obj reader the object is brought in ok but there is no axis that I can select and move. This forces me to use transform which is awkward.

The object I am referring to is "Sawpit_rockwall.obj" in the attached file.

Is the a way to get an axis? OR (as is usually the case) is something set wrong?

You have to select the object to see the axes.

I've tried that and the axis is nowhere near the object. X and y are correct but z is way off.

Not sure what your problem is.
But open your object node the right click anywhere on the 3D Preview window and "Copy Coordinates".
Then paste those coordinates in the "Translate"  part of your object node.
Your object will be where you clicked with your mouse.

There are other ways too if this is your problem.

If you mean that you can not see it in that view position open another camera node
and made the changes by going where your object is.
But don't loose your original camera position accidentally.

The origin on your object is probably not zeroed.  :)

You are correct, it is not at 0,0,0 because I translated the object after it was loaded.

I believe that Yossam meant the *object* is not zeroed in the *modeling program* that made it. And therefore it cannot appear correctly positioned in TG.

This is a common mistake that even experienced modelers make, it is easy to forget to do when you are ready to save out the finished object.

Simply open the object in a modeler and move the objects pivet point to its center, and then make sure the object is at 000 in the modeler, and then re-save.
Actually, the base of the object should only be a little below the 0 in the Y. otherwise the object will be half in the ground.

Posting your TGD does not help. You must post the objet for us to test. If you do not have a modeler, post the .obj and associated files, and I will fix it for you... *Assuming that the above is indeed the real issue.*

The object's (in C4D) axis were in the center BUT the coordinates of the object were not 0,0,0 in regards to the 'world'.

Changing it's coordinates to 0,0,0 passing it to PoseRay as a 3ds and exporting it from PoseRay as a true .obj that TG likes cleared everything up. The axis is just where it is supposed to be.

It would be wonderful if the graphics and CAD world could agree on one universal interchange format.  Propriety software be dammed - what about the user!  - end of rant--
