my latest night time  forest scene
lit with a spotlight
using DOF on this one.

render time: 10:33:15s

i did a little post work in GIMP on this.

-objects used-

nwda fir trees- 25m, 30m, 35m
silva 3D pine bush
nwda wild grass v3, v4, v7
nwda weed pack (weed4 v1, v2)
silva 3D purple deadnettle v1
3 ivy gen pops for the fir trees

this is one render i will be submitting to a local art gallery exhibition.

i plan on doing one render of this at a higher resolution

Well Z, like I said, those blacks are beautiful.

How big a print, what kind of printing method, paper stock?

If it were mine I would print a negative on transparency and apply some light senitive chemical to a nice hand made paper, and print a B/W photo.   

Only tiny thing I would ask about is if the trees could use a little bit more bark? I see you got some nice looking twigs too. So just curious why you left them smooth? It that a real tree type?

Im sure you will get some attention at the art exibit Z. Good job man! I am most jealous of those blacks!!

i had been meaning to use a spotlight on a forest scene, tried it once before with something and it wasn't successful.

the darker areas in the background?
or the african americans i hid behind the trees?

about the displacement on the trees-
i was using the default displacement setting.
ill increase the displacement on the trees
the trees are real trees from the NWDA HD Fir trees pack.

not totally sure about all the printing specs
the size for this one would be 6" x 8" at 300 ppi (required print res)

i have about 17 or 16 other renders ready for submissions, those being both terragen renders and the 3D mandelbulb stuff.
(a max of 20)

im also submitting some stuff to another smaller gallery...

terragen 3.1 crashes when i try loading the last couple versions of the .tgd for this scene.

tho it still works with the last version of TG3

As in the blacks that can be found in the images of various masters (printmakers, photographers) that I have a hard time getting, but which you have done well in this image.

I also agree with Kadri after looking at this image a bit more, that the DOF is not necessary. It would be nice if little red ridding hood (or any figure) were standing on that path. But for a still image landscape, its not of much use.
