I'm looking into buying a new comp.  So Far a 6core i7 with 64gb ram.  But I'm stuck on graphics cards. I want the cheapest card that will give me decent graphics and allow me to play the odd (very old) game. So far I'm thinking a 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 - DVI, mHDMI, VGA - 3D Vision Ready will do the job.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

What's your budget?

I think anything from 150-300$ will allow you to play simple games for the next couple of years?

6core 64GB...damn! :D

This is an entry level card but it will do the job for sure. You can even play some 3D games with it.

Amiga 1200 8Mb ram, 8Gb ssd

Cheers, Sounds like that will do the job then. That lot with a 1tb main HD and a 3TB secondary HD and all the other bits is around 1600! ouch!

Sounds like a beast man! :D

If you want to use more then 1 monitor or some of the features like Cuda in other 3D software a different card might be better.

What is the budget u have for the card? and what connection u have on the mobo?

This one GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 750 supports dual monitor and has similar performance. It is about 120 bucks.

I bought a GTX 750ti recently. Great card for the price. You can use up to 3 monitors. If you decide to get one, do some price comparisons at different sources. The cards are a little scarce, so a lot of retailers are jacking the price up.  :o

In the last years i have used mostly AMD-Ati cards. So i am not much familiar with Nvidia cards.
If i remember right with higher resolution and-or more Monitors a card with higher Ram and of course a faster one is always better.

You know it depends on how much you want to spend too of course.
As a very rough advice i would not buy anything under 300 or so $ - but that is me- .
Because in this or that 3D software you could get a little more benefit for OpenGL preview too for example.
What kind of programs you use is important too.
I have a AMD R290 and use 3 monitors  and play Skyrim with many mods very easily.
But if you want to encode videos for example my laptop renders with "Intel quick sync" enabled videos at least 3 times faster then that desktop pc.
