One of those images that started out as "I wonder if that would work ..."
Casm Butte v1 is the raw render and Casm Butte v2 is played with in Photoshop, no render layers were used here.

Very moody and bizarre!
I guess the displacement of the tyre tracks should be inverted?!

I like it.
The postworked one looks good.
I would preserve a little more the look of the car from the first image.

I really like this one, great composition. The track being inverted seems to be a good suggestion. I think the vehicle is a bit "too" red I think, the saturation should be adjusted a bit.
Mouthwash? We don't need no stinking mouthwash!! [MI2]

Beautiful; composed perfectly. Amazing work you've done here.

Great setup, but I don't know if I like the second one better.... a bit too warm, but strikingly powerfull light, IMHO.
Also, I don't think the track displacement should be inverted; they should be totally different, as they are not like the wheels' rubber. I would also mask out the stones in the tracks' path, as they wouldn't be dented. And in bends, there should be a second and maybe even third set of tracks traversing the others, depending on the number of axles in line.
I hope you get back to this.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I did not render out a set of layers (laziness) this time so my comping abilities were limited.
The tracks (literally a last moment addition) are just an image map repeated in Z and fractal warped. I don't think they should be inverted but they won't stand up to too close inspection. Technically they are way to far apart and far too big for the "rover".
I'm onto something else now but I may return to this later ...

I totally agree with Ulco about the stones and the additional tracks. But I'd love to see at least a crop test render with inverted displacement. The displacement you see looks exactly like the displacement the tyres would have, so I'm sure it should be inverted.

Powerful image, the composition is really striking - and the lighting in the second image is very moody and evocative.
