Wow great news. I would like to get some European data...

You can get some 30m/1arc resolution  european data here  http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/data/eu-dem

Update: I looked up that website for the EU data and the smallest file I found was over 2 gig :o
Does anyone knows another site where they possible have smaller files? (Especially EU)

Ahh thx, but still too big. From the US site at least one can choose what part and what quality is needed. A 50Mb file can be useful already...anycow thx for data.
