Nice image!  I especially like the colour and light.  I think the populations could be developed a bit more to really make this image pop.

I like the terrain, but I get a strange feeling watching this; it seems like the mountains are floating and on top of each other, it doesn't really have depth. Like you also used a telephoto angle. It's the water, maybe reducing the crispness and amount of reflectivity will increase reality. But this is merely my impression.

Agree with Ulco. Or not. I'm not quite sure if I like this strange artistical effect or if I miss some depth as well. However a nice image!

Thank you all for your observations, yes it is finished and can't be Iceland as there are trees and bracken amongst the heather and grass. [Oh the shame: I've just seen Oshyans photo's. There are trees in Iceland  ] I also was a tad unsure about the mirror effect but it is very early morning with little to no wind and that's what it looks like under these sort of conditions.  Well in my humble experience it has been.   

I'm tempted to see how fast a render farm could turn this round, as on my system it took 26 hours and 26 mins to render.

OK so I'm only doing a low priority, but so far 1.25 hours into GI pass with 0% Ho Hum! Perhaps I should have gone for a High priority. 

Must be something really wrong with my settings.  Ah yes, I just remembered it is twice the resolution of mine perhaps that's not helping.

4 hours in and 25% done. Cost to date $4.19

Almost 6.5 hours in and 54% done. It may speed up a bit more but perhaps the populations will start to slow it back down.  Well it's nearly 3 am here, so I'm oft to bed.

  :-[Deep shame;  I appear to have crashed the render farm's Terragen by all accounts, a number of times.  Spectacular fail on my part I guess.  All I got back was a black .bmp.   

Oh hells bells and buckets of blood. Knickers etc.

The files work my end but I must be doing something wrong, what an old tart  I am.

Have you been in touch with their support people? Odd that it would crash. It does sound like your render settings may be higher than they need to be though.

Hi Oshyan,

Oh yes I have been in contact with them, amongst other things I  sent them three copies of my renders from the same file. They even tried it out on their alpha version, still with the same results- crashed it.  Apparently, they have been in contact with Planetside Dev's and are forwarding my files to them for examination.

So in the fullness of time perhaps I'll find out what I've done incorrectly.  But at this end it renders ok from the gathered tgo:  It also renders ok from the zipped file and its assets which I sent them separately; so I'm somewhat  baffled.  Not that it's not easy to baffle an old wrinkly like me.
