CROPED TILES COLOURS WRONG

So after all the crashing i have been getting i decided to just do small render crops and put it together after, so after 9 soding hours i have my first ever render in tile form, put them together and rubbish, the horizontal joining line between the top and bottom tiles is totally a different shade of colour, and no i did not have G.I TURNED ON as i had already read that G.I will cause this so thats blown that theory out of the water hasn't it, it still happens with G.I turned off, so now i want a refund as this software is not fit for purpose, how can i ever make a render.

I'm really sorry your having troubles with your installation of Terragen and I can understand your frustration. However, shouting and ranting at the community will not help you one jot. It seems odd that you haven't posted your tgd files, screen shots or answered the questions about your graphics card. The terragen community can help you but will be less inclined to with your negative attitude. Please post your scene file (tgd) and I'm sure a solution can be found.

If you have read my posts properly you will see that it is crashing with even the default scene at startup so i do not need to send my tgd file, my video drivers are the latest version, i run 3ds max with no problems, so this should not crash, and why are there so much difference in tile colour when using crop with no G.I.

I have emailed a request for a formal refund as this program is no use to me if i cannot get a render to work.

It dose seem strange that the error your experiencing is only apparent on your system. I, and many others, have the full Deep Animation version and have never experienced this particular problem. I can only conclude that although the rest of your system is fully functional there is some corruption with either your NTDLL.DLL file that only shows up with terragen, your graphics driver (what card are you using?) or possibly the installation of Terragen you have. You can download replacement NTDLL.DLL files from many sites on the internet, this may help or if it dose not then it could exclude at least one option. You can try re-downloading Terragen and then reinstalling. Also try minimising Terragen after it has started rendering. If it still crashes at the same time then that may exclude the graphics driver path (only a guess that one, I'm figuring that if the OpenGL driver is not displaying anything then its not getting in the way or using any processor cycles, like I said just a guess).

What method did you use to turn off GI? Did it do a GI prepass (the "dots" part of the render in the beginning)?

If this kind of problem is happening even without GI it's important for us to know and understand why. Even if you would prefer a refund at this time, if you are willing we would very much appreciate you helping us by providing example files or images so that we can troubleshoot the problem and make the final product the best it can be.

Additionally we would still like to troubleshoot the crashing problem. I have replied in that thread and hope you will be willing to respond with additional information and test the possible solution I have provided.

Another idea!
Dose it render in the demo version with its max settings or just the standard Default settings, ie:

Max Settings
Render Size Maximum: 800x600
Render Detail Maximum: 1.0
Antialiasing Maximum: 3

Default Settings
Render Size: 640x480
Render Detail: 0.5
Antialiasing: 3

Will the full version render at these settings? If so, try changing the values ONE at a TIME and post your results.

Also, Oshyian, is the demo version now available the same one we all started with or a demo of the current release? Just interested really

The free and "Deep" edition Technology Preview downloads are the same version right now. Our next update will be available to registered ("Deep") users first and will be made available to the public some time afterward. But in general they stay synchronized, aside the feature and detail restrictions.

Does a commandline render work? (using TGDCLI.exe)

If not, try piping the output to a text file. I'm not sure how much debuggibg info is left in its output but there may be a clue at the point where it crashes.

e.g.

%TERRAGEN_PATH%/tgdcli -p myproject.tgd -r -f 1 > renderlog.txt
