I think you nailed it! The original scene was quite nice, but something seemed "off". Very pleased to see you've tweaked it until it sings, without losing the original feel. It still has that sort of "magical realism" thing about it somehow, but it looks much more plausible and complete.

Agree on the "magical realism" thing as that often gets lost....I've lost it a few times on the way to a final render.
