Dune

Another thing I'm building. First concept, with faults. Crops are at max size.

TheBadger

:o I really like that area around the water on the right side!!!
It has been eaten.

archonforest

Indeed! That area is very nice...I mean the rest look cool too :D

fleetwood

Makes me want to go down there and explore.

Dune

Small update. Forgot to change the max height for dark waterline on boats, well... now let's see what they think of this (and continue with the museum wall).

I love the first one. Great!

Could it be that in the second one the grass with the cows could be a bit finer - or alternatively deeper and the cows standing deeper in it? I guess it's surface shader and no population, right?

Dune

Yeah, it's surface, with its limitations. Rendered at detail 0.6 the 'fake grass' (stretched small fake stones), don't really displace up high enough. I did consider a grass pop allover, but try to avoid it. Good idea, though, about the sinking of the cows.
I definitely need ideas, also to make this more photoreal.

DocCharly65

I like your way to use surfaces instead of obj-populations.

When I am more experienced I want to swich over to that technics too. I am aware it decreases memory and cpu requirements of the PC .

mhaze

Super stuff as ever - some veg along the wall of the building, where the the walls meet the ground would be good.  Maybe some ivy?

Dune

Yeah, thanks Mick.

Antoine

It looks so realistic !
I was wondering about the tree leaves in the shadow area (image 11b and 14), it almost looks like as if there was some kind of radiosity; What setting or technique are you using so that it doesn't looks too flat ? are you increasing GISD ?

David

Dune

No increase in GISD. Just a little (0.2-0.5) translucency in the leaves (not too much, or the leaves would be too light in the shadows), and color variation (by the old method with the transform shader). That's all.

Antoine

Thank you for your explanation!

Dune

I thought I had a post about this one, and I found it again. Update. The monastery still needs to be built, the last one apparently wasn't like the client envisioned.
