Nikon D3 - Microsoft apparently know about the problem and are working on a fix.  W10 sees the folders in explorer but not the individual photo files.  Some handshaking protocol problem I'm told.

I see.  In the meantime, I would suggest just plugging the card into the PC itself (if you are not already doing so).

Yep! that's what I'm doing, fortunately old my old raw files that were loaded onto my machine show up fine.

any one using an older PhotoShop with Win10...I pretty much rely on that app for everything 2D like texture creation etc.

A little related:

http://www.techspot.com/review/1042-windows-10-vs-windows-8-vs-windows-7/

Shows a little how the Windows 8 bashing is (except the Metro GUI that can be easily sidestepped) unnecessary too.
I use it since the beginning and had not much problems.

I will wait for 2-3 months or so for upgrading to Windows 10.

That's a strange site; can't get anywhere but the anouncement screen.

Final thoughts:

I would like to retract my statement that it was unpolished.  That was when my display driver wasn't working correctly and everything was stretched.  Overall, however, it is a little rough.  A few crashes, although these seem fixed with a Win10 driver for my vid card.  Although for some reason the text in programs like Terragen does not seem as clear or pronounced as programs like IE.  I wonder if there is a way to clear that up.

My machine is definitely showing its age now.  You can right click on things to pin them to the taskbar.  You can also right click on things on the taskbar in order to access say, different folders on file explorer.  I get a very noticeable delay when doing this before the mini menu pops up.  Also, dragging things into the graphical start menu can be exasperating at times.  I thought it simply wasn't doing it before, but now I think it was the slowness of my machine showing.

Still, there is more to explore.  Hopefully, most of the issues are cleared up in the next few weeks and months.  I certainly understand people waiting.  Upgrading will not change your life or make you substantially more productive (but perhaps a tiny bit).  I like the interface more than Win7 or 8.  Seems more user friendly, overall.  And it looks like you can still delve into the more specific menus (although they may not always be where they were in previous versions, or easy to find).  And at this point, I don't really recommend it if you haven't.  But at the same time, I don't regret doing so.  I have the option to go back to Win7, and haven't, so...

Pic included to show difference between text clarity.

Are you using DPI scaling, an enlarged/alternate text size?

I'm not sure.  Not deliberately, anyway.

In Windows 8 it is here:  RMB on the desktop+ Personalize+Display (on the left lower side)
Have a look there.

Yeah, that looks like that was it.  Of course, now it looks like everything else is too small.  I wonder if they haven't adjusted yet for both larger screens and higher res screens.  So, I just might keep it the way it was.
