As mentioned before, i am starting a new project going from desert to forest now.

I am still working on vegetation but here is a teaser of what is being worked on.

Oh, that is very intersting to me... Go on...  :)

Hope to see more about this.
I would try without the low clouds. They cut the depth in the middle IMO.

Agree about the low clouds. Preview looks Awesome though.
It has been eaten.

I am trying to find a compromise so what i did was i kept the low clouds to a very minimum to suggest mist. I will have to do another over night render.

AP

I think this could be final after 10.5 hours of rendering, i would be concerned of doing this again so i may just leave it as it is.

Indeed, sometimes it just takes lotsa tweaks and then 10.5 hours, heh heh heh...it's a beauty mate! *****

Yes, a lot tweaks for certain. Believe it or not, building it overall was relatively easy.

If i am up to it, i may fix some minor issues but minor.

TheBadger

It has been eaten.

Chris i like the composition very much and it does have much more potential.
I wish you would work more on it. The lower part is nearly done.
The mountains might need a little more texture, color .

I loaded the mountains with quite a lot of color and detail but if there is anything i can add more, it is possible and what about the lower part?

I am willing to give this another go.

The image below was my original intent but having a rigid chiseled square noise along the strata proved to be too much of a difficulty.

Looks like a painting. Maybe not realistic, but definitely nice to look at. Good work! What did you use to make the river? And by that I mean did you have to sculpt it out or did the terrain just work out that way?

The painterly part may be due to a bit more color saturation then normal.

The river is a combination of displaced sss shaders with some fractal warps, nothing more then a gap there down the center.
