This looks very cool, nice color scheme. Can you expand a bit more how you did this? DEM, photo overlay, Daniil's erosion shader?

Just really simple uncomplicated stuff here, a good quality DEM with reasonably decent imagery.  More tests below, needs quite a bit more work, plus I need to remember how to properly animate stuff, It's been awhile...  More test images below, but I think I will raise the camera a bit higher, the imagery is looking a pretty rough this close.

I get exactly what you are doing here. As for me I can never find good color data to go with the terrain. So still have not got the chance to try it with a terrain.
