Or just change the color scheme by hand from the desktop....

Windows doesn't give users much control over the colours with their modern themes (since XP). To have full control like the good old days you have to switch to the Windows Classic theme, or use third party hacks which in my experience caused me some system stability problems (although it's been years since I last tried, so maybe the links above work better). The Classic theme looks very dated and ugly to me, but I use it sometimes when working in a dark environment.

We plan to add a dark option to the Terragen GUI in future.

Edited system files used to be a great way to get infected. However this Universal Theme Patcher, or http://uxstyle.com/ are pretty well known now. I used to have issues theming as well (to the point i needed to format) but that was almost a decade ago now.

I don't like installing all sorts of software, so for me it's windows classic. I don't find it that horrible, just straightforward. The aerothemes are sometimes a bit too 'over the top' (and heavier). But I like a dark theme (like the Photoshop CS6), so great news, Matt.

I agree, a dark theme because everyone else is doing it and just overall better on the eye strain. That Photoshop CS6 theme is a good candidate study.

Haha, I'm still on Photoshop CS.
