I need suggestions for background.............any ideas?  ???

archonforest

Great foreground here ;)

I would put a forest there that looks like getting destroyed.

Eh...perhaps a giant beaver!! :D :D

The Trees tell me that some powerful force came through and ripped them off to who knows where. Maybe a theme there of some sort to add to in or around the area?

I like this one, excellent.

Looks good.
Could be many things you can add there.
A dry cloudless sky with a bright sun.
A still green big Forrest.
A tornado, storm that made the foreground etc.

Oh this is a nice idea :)

To strengthen the subject of this image I would choose quite a different composition I think:

- raise the camera a couple of meters
- move camera back
- tilt camera down
- increase focal length a bit to frame the stumps a bit tighter
- adjust this camera position in such a way that bottom 2/3rd are stumps and top 1/3rd is stumps fading away down hill, for example.

This will emphasize the subject and will create a leading eye from bottom to top of the image. The viewer wants to see where it's going.

I was thinking that you could  add a bunch of full standing trees along the sides of the current population, so that you end up with a massively wide path going into the hills. So like a path cut through grass but with these trees as you already have them.

Pretty easy way to do what everyone here is already seeing I guess. Don't think you need to give it much explanation either. And I would not move too high up above where you have the camera now cuz you need it to be clear that those are stumps and that they were broken not cut. But move the cam just enough to help you show the path.

Whatever made the path needs to be in the viewers mind, unless you have a really nice model that will make sense.

You could even add a tornado. there is a tornado pack out there from Frank.
It has been eaten.

I will try some of the suggestions as time permits...............archonforest gets a nod for being the first responder.  ;D

Thanks for the ideas guys...............

Unless a tornado took away all the trees, I think there might be some broken ones in the mix.  Fun image.

Cool... and the beaver's name was Tunguska!

This pic kinda came about because I watched a program about the event at Tunguska. There was no mention of a beaver.................. ;D

A Beaver called Tunguska. It sounds like a bad horror movie. In all seriousness though, there are good ideas presented here from others.
