If you give me your deep version Volker I would be more than happy to render many images with and without the internal soft shadows.  ;D I have many images just waiting for a deep version to render them.

Yes, nvseal.  You (in my opinion) need the Deep version.  Don't let a talent go to waste.  Dude.   ;D

Yes it is. I thought about doing just that for this render. (and still might)

I prefer small fake stones  for the texture, with an underlying fractal with a larger scale for extra shaping.  This makes it look a lot less like a fractal displacement
