Hello at all,

I´tried to open an older Terragen 3 File and saw this:

[attach=1]

What are these oily streaks they are complete black. The Sun is in front, so shadows wouldn´t be there.

[attach=2]

Anybody can help?

I had a fast look.
You don't have any kind of a color or image node in the upper node tree and the nodes who are below are restricted all to lower angles.
So basically you don't have any color at high angles.

One of many ways is to put any kind of color node or image etc. below the "Compute Terrain" node or activate the color in the "Heightfield shader 01".

Hello Kadri,

thanks so far, but i get no result when i place a colour shader below Compute Terrain. When i do this all Terrain is flat.
Switching on the colour in Heighfield Shader is also useless....

To be honest i DON´T understand all the shader things it´s weird to me. Maybe you can fix it?

Best regards

Peter

Try this one Peter. Not sure what you want but i hope you can work on from here.

PeterParker

Hey Kadri,

thanks a lot for your help but is it possible to erase the black? I dont know where it come from and it is my favorite preset but now it´s broken :-(

Most of it comes from the "Image map shader 01" Peter.
There was no image map so i could not test it.
You can change it with a powerfractal or another image map if you haven't the original for example.
Work with that added nodes to your liking.

Kadri

If you have an old image of the file it would be easier to see what you want.

Kadri

This is with minimum change Peter.
I added a powerfractal (for color only) under the computer terrain and the same one for the absent image map (in the last node) only.

It says grass node? Do you want a green color?
If so just disabling the compute terrain node adds that effect.
It will render faster too.

PeterParker

Ok, i undestand now :-)
Have another image attached to the image shader and now it works! :-)

Kadri

There should be a warning at loading? You had not that image i suppose then?
Good that it was so basic at least :)

Thanks a lot for your help!  :)
Wish you a nice weekend!
