I like it myself.  I think that some times, while not trying to create an image that looks like it is a real place, just creating ART for arts sake is also important with Terragen.  Anyone else?

I personally thought it looked like a classical matte painting right away. The saturation would look perfect if turned into a black and white as tone. As color it kinda looks like a remastered and colored old film.

needs a 50-60s style hero standing in front.

Yes and as someone who uses it for a variety of projects I do think there are those who would benefit from stepping outside the alpine comfort zone. Those images are nice - beautiful at times -  but trying to replicate others' images isn't quite the same as carving your own path.
