An one who has ever run a Terragen contest or contest for any other terrain creation software (Of any size) for any length of time must sooner or latter begin to realize that there is only a finite amount of ideas that are feasible with the Terrain generation software and methods available today before themas repeat them selves, but how many times can one recycle themas without having to borrow form what others have done in the past?
The limitations of the software force us to avoid themas that would be currently impossible or at lest highly impractical with current methodologies and terrain mesh generation schema's employed today subjects such as Thrust Mountains and River Deltas these maybe possible in future when new methods of terrain generation are produced that go beyond current Procedural, Hightfeild or ROAM methods but these are unknown to this author at time of writing.
Do we who run such contests look beyond terrain and ask our entrants to create works based on emotions, a feeling, a work of music or poetry? Where indeed should we look when our muses is still as night and imparts not a glimmer of inspiration from witch to reach out to other creative people an spark some thing within them to create great works?
Regards to you.
