Pitch black shadows (not again!)

Hey,

Got a problem that I hoped was long gone with my level of experience. I am building a cave scene this time using "sprocks" and upon adding a "ceiling" of the cave I made a test render to see if the shadow is indeed slowly building up.

It turned out that the shadow cast on the rest of the scene by the upper sprock is completely black! Well, I think I don't have to tell you that even with such a huge rock hanging overhead shadows are not pitch black in real life. :)

The problem is even more serious because all shadows in the scene started to turn terribly dark! I made another render with different sun angle and shadows cast from behind and the results were terrible!

The most surprising is the fact that previously, all shadows were correct. They suddenly started to become dark for no apparent reason!

Check your GI settings, perhaps by accident something zeroed there... (?)

I am a fucking idiot. ;D

The shadows were black, because the render camera was stuck inside one of the sprocks! Apparently, the program struggled to do the impossible - calculate light from within a solid sphere. Thus black shadows. :)

I basically tried to render with a fossil...!! ;D

at least you have a warning from the last render the the ground is poking through the boat's bottom, heh heh heh...I keep getting stuck in walls the same way; very weird output....

Fossil rendering: it's a feature, not a bug. ;)
