Not sure whether this is me or a bug.

OK, so I'm an old wrinkly. I haven't used TG2 for quite some time but I did download the latest release 1.9.41

Recently finished another model so I thought I would check out the new smoothing.

Well it maybe user error but I've double checked and as far as I can see I'm not doing anything different so I'm not sure what is going on here.

So, I checked my settings again....

This is what it is supposed to look like for all its faults....

To save you asking, I did uninstall the previous version Deep + A prior to installing the latest release.  I did also reboot.  Made no difference.

Wonderful render of the boundary box - Not!   I can't even render a black object now nor sort out the mat's.

Incidentally can anyone post a .mtl file that loads into Terragen successfully, so that I can compare my .mtl file for obvious differences in nomenclature, 'cause I still can't get the materials to load.

JohnnyBoy

I delete the path to any textures and replace it with the file name. Then just make sure to put the texture in the same folder as the object and mtl files.

Well I can see differences but if they are relevant I haven't a clue what to do about it.

As you can see there are no texture file names specified, so no textures will load. If it's using procedural or internal (to the modeling app) materal texturing (e.g. reflective, environment mapping, etc.) then this too won't show up. What's odd though is that it's only rendering a square. Even without textures it should at least show the proper model shape. How big is the model - would it be possible to share it for testing?

Hi Java,

No there aren't any textures on this particular model, just material zones.  Sure I'll post the .obj file ASAP  ;D

Yes the square, that is what I was primarily concerned about, because I've never had this problem before.  I normally get black objects but at least after much mutterings I do usually get the materials allocated where I originally wanted them.  Even though they are not read into TG2 in the same order as they were exported.  But with the boundry box rendering like this I see nothing.  :'(

Don't laugh too much, but I missed last nights episode of Hero's, it is being repeated in a minute.  :-[  So I'll be about an hour.

No the board won't have it as it's 5mb.  My FTP prog' won't upload through my modem/router new router haven't sussed why just yet so if you can stand the pain I can email it to you.  Alternatively, I could upload it to you through Ashundar's object section?

Oshyan,

It is waiting for you at Ashundar object download area.   ;D  FYI it does load and work as intended in Kerkythea and Bryce 6.1

User error, user error.

Don't know what I did but I resaved my .obj file reloaded it into TG2 and although wrongly orientated at least it's there.

Oshyan

Heh, I was just going to say, it seems to render fine on this end too (no textures of course). So... shall we put this one to rest?
