And Lumberyard is also FREE and I'm pretty sure you can export from Lumberyard as obj.

When I get back to Blighty I shall have to investigate ...

On the download page it says "Exports only Lumberyard .CGF files." unfortunately.

Also interesting/odd is that it seems like the current regular version of Speedtree is 7, and the only entry for 8 in their online store is the Lumberyard one! Maybe some kind of early/limited release deal Amazon made...

My reading is that you have a choice of export of .obj, .cgf and .grp.
They just have .cgf highlighted for the tutorial.

I'll have to try this sometime when I can dl LumberYard.

I was actually looking for the SpeedTree Architect when I saw this to get a price ($495).

I can't connect to the store page at the moment to link to it, but I do recall reading in the FAQ last night that this version was export-limited to the lumberyard format. They specifically note that this license is for the creation of assets used in realtime environments.

I'll see if I can pull it up when the page is back up.

Ah! I see. The Speed Tree only exports CGF files. But maybe once in LumberYard they can be re exported as obj's ... Probably not I guess.
