What does anyone know about this software?  Can it be used to export TER files or anything compatible with TG2?

I dont know about TER files but it does export heightfield...so that should work in TG2

nice find by the way.....you can achieve effects like volcanos that are hard to do in TG2

I've heard of it never used it though, tell us if it works out.
The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

dh and Will - I don't think the free version does much and I'm in the throes of a decision (sounds dramatic) about which terrain builder to use.  I already own Bryce and Terragen, which combined can do nice heightfields.  But, I see there are other programs that can do a lot more in terms of making terrain that could be used to import into TG2.

Why don't you try Terrabrush it's a nice little app (ok some flaws) and it's free.
And there are other free terrain editors as well, some can be really helpful. ;)

Thanks, j.  I will probably fish around a bit, as you've suggested.

L3DT exports .TERs and almost all the difference (at least for what TG2 users might be concerned) between the free and the pay version is the map size (max 2048x2048 for the free one, much much more for the pro version, which uses tiled builds).

You can determine whether you like it or not by downloading and using the free version.

Bye!!!
