As yet unnamed loch

My current WIP if you don't mind. I had that picture of a lake surrounded by peaks in my memory for too long now. I'm quite satisfied with the terrain I think.

Working on the colors now - some significant changes have to be made, because the mountain ranges look like shit. ::) Color picking tool is a good tool not always...

I don't mind, as long as you guys keep posting  ;) Good basis I think, but indeed it needs work. Tilt the camera a bit too, so the tops are in view. Do you have Daniil's erosion shader, then use it, might be very interesting.

It's a good start. Some veg pops so we can get a sense of the scale would be a good place to continue it's development.

Great POV! Lots to work with here for sure.

Thanks for guidance guys. I guess it is now time to resume work on that image since for the whole last week I've been away skiing. Maybe I'll upload some inspirational pics for you to the open discussion soon.

@ Bobby - Vegetation will surround the lake, I'll get to that for sure. For now however, I can say that the camera floats about 175m above the surface of the lake. If that puts any scale in the perspective... ;) The lake itself is 400m wide on average.

An update. I like colors much better now with all diverse shades of grey and green. Population is only for scale comparison and should be more diverse and faaaar denser. I plan to add a small water stream on the left bank. :)

getting there. Have you ever checked out the presets? There are some really good starting point blends there. I use the Camoflage one often as well as the ClayChertStone and the Grass layers ones...saves a lot of time and I've learned from using and tweaking them.

Okay, so here's another "increment" to that project of mine. With clouds following. ;)

While I like the overall composition I have yet to find a way to obscure the peaks in the second plan - the image just looks to sharp and crisp in such a cloudy environment. I need some fog effects reducing the visibility.

I tried using a "peasoup" layer of cloud stretching across the whole working area to create the fog. In this case however, the cure was worse than disease. :-\ Now I am trying to do the same thing by increasing haze values.

Coming along nicely; and how about a localized cloud where you want reduced visibility?

I thought about it. But I'm afraid the contrast between the obscured area and the clean one will be too great then. I need a noticeable transition between clear and peasoup. I'll probably just add some haze. It gives the image a "rainy" look which I'm after, so maybe that's enough.
