I was just about to say I'm not overly enthusiastic about those cliffs either. But who cares for such action shots. I sometimes have a problem wiith magnificent CG scenery that is going so fast you can't see it really.

Bear in mind ILM aren't the only ones working on Star Wars these days.
As for TG... check out the planets in Rogue One. Nicely comped, though I'm pretty confident they're Terragen.

I am not 100% confident those cliffs are not Terragen, but the only use we are sure of for TG in the Star Wars series is for planetary/orbital shots (yes, including Rogue One, Alex
).
