 One of my Flickr contacts took this picture. He sent me an email about it and it is awesome.

I sent him an email asking if he could take a star shot to post on NWDA's site. With this many stars, it would be easy to include clouds and not ruin the night sky.

I don't understand: why are there stars on the mountain? Is this postworked or? How is this made? Some things make me think it is CG, some things make me think it's a photograph.

Looks more like a road to me than stars on the mountain.

A shot like this wouldn't be too hard - it looks like maybe a 30 second to 1 minute exposure (too much longer than that and you'll get the beginning of star trails in the sky).

That said, it's a gorgeous shot - I really like it.

P.S. - Ah! I just looked at the lower rez page on Flicker - there is a comment there about the mount. They lights are actually climbers on the mountain. Neat!

I did not notice the white dots on the mountain. Hmm...
Anyway, Danny Stedman does very good photography in the Rocky Mountains. I don't know if he does post-processing. (Probably does, if you are good at it, bad shots can be made to look good) I just thought it was cool because I grew up in the country. I live in a city now. There is so much light pollution I can't even see the stars. I miss that.

Long exposure?  Ice and lights would 'POP',  maybe?
