Testing some things with a sphere under the planet for glaciers and glass shader. Super slow renders so had to keep resolution small for previews.

Here I was working on a boundary mask to make it look as if the boundaries, being less dense, have seen more thawing and cracking and refreezing.

The thin areas near the surface of the planet see translucency the best, and look rather nice, actually. Could use more blue though. I was hoping to achieve realistic blues with just lighting and atmosphere.
