I'm looking for a fir object for TG that resembles an actual fir tree like a pine or douglas fir? The one from Xfrog (I think it was) doesn't resemble any living fir I know of, and I almost have a good portion of the species in my state. Want to do an apline scene.

You have looked here probably:
https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/3D-Models/fir-tree
https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/fir-tree
https://free3d.com/3d-models/fir

Hmm out of all those the only one that vaguely resembles something nice is the christmas tree looking one: https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/plant/conifer/fir-tree-7m but it's so symmetrical.

Hmm. Maybe I can just ask my fiancee to not get me anything fancy for my birthday coming up in September and have her get me a vegetation pack... not sure how that will go over. xD

Looking at something like this makes that object not so bad actually and you can tweak it of course:

That's the thing about these objects. The artists are going to parks with well pruned and maintained trees as reference. They're not symmetrical in nature, but when they're young, and even than not as common as the Christmas tree look which is a common look to go after when maintaining them.

They're really good for urban settings but highly unrealistic for natural settings.

Another thing that bugs me about packs is they tend to just have alive, dead, and sometimes, maybe snow, and maybe 2-3 varied types, but no seasonal types like newgrowth fro spring (lighter green more translucent tips that almost glow in the sun (not as opaque as mature needles), green pinecones for summer, and spent open brown ones for fall.

Really need to start learning to use Blender so I can translate stuff I see to objects for us

There are also good trees of the evermotion series

https://www.google.com/search?q=fir%E3%80%80Archmodels&client=firefox-b&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiThqrilvrbAhWMF4gKHSWJDxwQsAQINA&biw=1399&bih=1007#imgrc=DlJ2BOtEkb0DrM:

This one (ceder?? has the look of a ceder in foliage but not trunk) here: https://evermotion.org/shop/show_product/tree-16-amc1/12421 is really nice just heavy price at 23 dollars imo. I understand the work that goes into though, just way too poor living in a now broken RV I gotta somehow move in 20 days, and the block went on our grand am simultaneously (4th used car in a year). We just don't have the money to keep up.

I am not good at English, so I'm not quite sure, but Speed Tree on this site may be able to make trees for free

That's a nice offer they have, but it's only for Lumberyard license holders.
