These guys solve part of the problem of repeatable camera motion. They also stabilize hand-carried cameras but will probably only work (well) with certain DSLR form-factor cameras. Probably not appropriate for video camcorders with a traditional CCD sensor form factor. Anyway, they are way cool and you can do a lot with them. The products I've looked are from DJI and Zhijun. What I would like to have is something that could automate the total motion and camera control for a green-screen studio. I'd love to look into the ultra-quiet motors used in these guys. Since I now have metal shop fabrication and motor control capabilities, that goal may be within reach. Would love to use Terragen to make the backgrounds for composited CG/live action movies. My studio has mostly gone unused waiting for this technology to make it complete.
The videos below talk only about two models but there are actually a slew of them. Somehow they just slipped past me. I must have been asleep. I feel like Rip Van Winkle.
