That´s as good as it gets now, I´ll go on when there is transparency and I got a faster PC.
Took 10 hours with detail 0.4 and GI 2/1!

I did stretch the noise, the problem is, that my creeks main direction lies 45 degrees to the coordinates,
I dont know how to strech the noise in that direction. If I stretch x and z it just gets bigger.
So I simply stretched z, because it looked slightly better that way.
But I like the result, not ready, but my best yet I think.

this is just a thought....I havent tried this....but have you thought about using whole bunch of really small fake stones with high stone density and water shader applied as the surface shader....you might have to change around water settings a bit.....

Your pebble-water idea sounds interesting, but expensive:  My whole problem at the moment is that my watershader on top even of a low-noise displacement (3 octaves) increases rendertime unbelievably.
Maybe when I got a new PC.
