Working on a new planet from orbit. This time Earth-like. So far I just have in continents, and lowland and highland colours and the ocean.

To do:

  • Richer atmosphere
  • Alpine Mountainous Zones
  • Polar Regions
  • Procedural planetary cloud mix
  • Possibly more decay distance on the ocean and ocean floor details.

Suggestions? Comments?

Wow... cool already! On the first glew I thought the thumbnails were the Earth itself :)

Looks quite promising. The clouds are procedural as well?

That's a cloud map projected in spherical with v2 clouds with albedo higher and fake darkening. I have an idea for "somewhat" procedural clouds by mixing in various masked sized clouds and than warping them all on a "global scale.

Good progress :)
For added realism think of climatic zones ... Jungles on the equator, deserts in the tropics, temperate, tundra and arctic etc.
This will also reflect in weather/cloud patterns/distribution.
Something to do with the Coriolis effect and jet streams :D

That's all to do with polar regions, or more specifically, altitude constrains on the Y axis.

Specific regions and clouds are not possible with TGs current setup procedurally. All the mixing, masks ans merging would be too much if the current setup speaks anything. They'd have to be basic and more faked, the illusion of.

As it is now with the new node changes the shaders get pretty slow. Things are a stutter show trying to work with nodes in bigger projects in latest version.
