Liquid paths

Is there any good way to plausibly paint an area on a terrain or wall through which a liquid would flow?
Taking into account all little slopes, obstacles and drops created by the terrain displacement?
I have a glowing, toxic ooze that overflows from a crater and would like to put it on a downward path through the slope... but how...?
I think it requires some space technology and cannot be achieved in TG (yet).

I really can't imagine any way to do it properly other than masks from Daniil's erosion shader or other software.

Yes, I think that's the only way. I used to paint streams like that in with painted shader, but it's awkward work.
