Another path tracing/standard comparison

Hello,

Here are two new renders that show the big difference between path tracing and standard render engine, this is really day and night.
The Elm tree at the center was done using The Grove 3D in Blender then exported (after decimating twig geometry) in fbx format in Modo 903 and exported from there to obj format so that I can use it in Terragen.
Twigs leaves are made of two materials : top and bottom and unfortunately I couldn't find a way to get both of them for Terragen so I only took the top one.

The path tracer render engine was the thing I was expecting the most for Terragen and I am very happy with it.

So here are the two images for comparison :

Excellent example! Not just the foreground trees, but the right distant lighting on field and treeline.  :)

Another great example why path tracing is going to be awesome.
Yes, it is relatively slow, but it looks so much better!

Which grass models did you use here? I really like them and especially how well they work with the lighting!

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

The grass models are from Vizpark, the Aristida Purpurea and the Hordeum Murinum from the real grass pack, in obj format. However, in Terragen, I have adjusted the colors of each one to better fit my needs.

Wow I love path tracing. Makes hell of a different. Well done Planetside!
