I'm not sure if I ever posted this.
Last year I was trying to get populations working for cities. Never really got there but this is as near I as got before I went off to try something more productive lol

The sense of scale is awesome!
Would it be possible to ask for a PT version?  :)

Great Idea which I love...

Wow, amazing work cyphyr!  As far as you got looks done to me!  Did you go on to try building cities in some other software tools?

I had a go with City Engine and it's a great tool but unfortunately since ERSI bought it my license no longer works. An annoying shame.
Houdini has some great procedural city building tools but you really need to learn Houdini first (which I am still trying to find the time to do). Also Houdini cities are destructible!
There is a addon for Blender called SceneCity which looks promising. https://planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,26235.msg261087.html#msg261087
Development is slow but it is affordable and Blender is FREE.
I don't really know of any other city building software, some game engines maybe?
I love to know if there was any, especially a plugin for lightwave!

Of course the main issue (for us Terragen users) is that any generated city will have to be exported as a large model and once it is in Terragen it no longer has any "procedural" properties.

Looks interesting.
Did you use image maps?
Like in plant objects pathtracing might make a difference in this scene maybe?

cyphyr

I did use some image maps for the basic layout.
Maybe I'll revisit it with Path Tracing when transparency (the water) is supported.

Does the plane have to be flat on which a city sits?

DocCharly65

Wow! If I were rich enough, you'd have a job for city building in my film :)
Great!

No.
The buildings are just like trees as far as the populate is concerned.
