Gentle curves

Guys, is there a way to gently curve a previously warped SSS so as a whole it takes a shape of a crescent / corner?

I am absolutely tired of hitting a "random seed" button in my attempted customization setup...

You could try a simple shape shader plugged into a redirect shader.

Or

use two simple shape shaders in the shape of a corner in the first place ...

I'm not really sure what I should do with the redirect shader. :(

Yes, connecting several SSS is something I thought about as well. It's just that in this case, warping on the individual SSS is obscuring other parts of a planned curve. Sigh.

Darn it... I just don't get it. I arranged the nodes in exact same manner as you have in your working example but I cannot bend the desired SSS at all...

I think just now I'm beginning to understand...

The redirecting shader does not use its color or shape alone to redirect. Instead, its the displacement strength that redirects! Boy, what a plot twist... ::)

Yes that's right (you could take the colour output and modify it further and plug it into a displacement shader to achieve a similar effect).
Also note that the SSS that is plugged into the redirect is offset from the SSS it is displacing.

The black and white of SSS (or PF) are 'forces' that can warp, so you could also use a vector displce instead of a redirect.
