Hi all, we are nearing completion on a new benchmark scene (based on one kindly donated by someone you all know and love :D). To finalize it we need a couple volunteers with mid-range modern CPUs to test a draft of the benchmark and make sure it has a reasonable render time on their hardware. We're roughly aiming for 10-15 mins on a Ryzen 2700x, so if you have a Ryzen CPU around that level, or an equivalent Intel CPU get in touch! Anyone interested in testing please email support AT planetside.co.uk

Haha, I just changed a Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX, the old benchmark scene 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Unfortunately, my cpu does not meet your testing requirements.

KlausK

I`d be interested in testing but I have no idea what an equivalent Intel CPU to that Ryzen would be.
See my specs in the footnote? Let me know.

You're a little over-spec Klaus. :D It'll be available to the public soon though and you can register your score as before. :)

I have a dual X5670 Xeon. Is that okay or too old?

I'm guessing my Ryzen is a little below what you are looking for?
(04Dec20) Ryzen 1800x, 970 EVO 1TB M.2 SSD, Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR4 3200 Mem,  EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Graphics 457.51 (04Dec20), Win 10 Pro x64, Terragen Pro 4.5.43 Frontier, BenchMark 0:10:02

Got a 24thread dual E5-2620 setup at work here... 2.4Ghz, 64GB of RAM. Any use?
At home it's a 5th or 6th gen i7 I think.

Firstly well done to both of you on getting this together. Much needed.
Happy to help but a little busy at the moment. I could have a blast at the weekend.
My rigs are not modern (pre Ryzen!) but both 12 core so still useful ...
Cheers

Actually the dual CPU Xeon's are still going to be a bit too much horsepower. They're worth testing on, absolutely, but our concern here is really about hitting an approximate render time target for a "middle of the road" enthusiast hardware, which is about Ryzen 2700x level. An 1800x would be a decent stand-in though, i.e. close enough. So jaf, you'd actually be our best bet at present. Get in touch if you want to give it a run. It may take some back-and-forth, i.e. multiple tests.

I have a i7 5820K and an i7 2600k. Any good?

Rumburak

I have a Core i7 4790k. If you need some tests on this CPU, just send me a message.

Oshyan

Hah, surprised no one has one of the newer Ryzen CPUs actually. None of those Intels are a close enough match performance-wise I don't think. But I think we can figure it out. I'll contact people directly for any needed testing, and the final version will be out within a week or two.

I think bobbystahr is running a ryzen ?

I have an old i7-3930K here  :'(

No, Bobby had an Athlon I do believe, and that machine is down unfortunately.
