Path tracer and GI

Maybe silly questions...
Does GI cache detail and sample quality have an influence when rendering with the path tracer? And is it necessary to create a GI cache file for animations in PT?

The GI cache is used for the atmosphere and V2 clouds. If these things are in the scene you should use a GI prepass or a GI cache file just like you would in a standard renderer.
Just because milk is white doesn't mean that clouds are made of milk.
