I am fond of movies of the 80s and 90s and remember how excited I was to see each advance in special effects, to see things that had never been shown before.
The things shown in this documentary won't impress many people in this time of VFX extravaganza, but I think back to it with pleasure, and admire the enthusiasm and skill of the people who made this possible with the resources available at the time.

The original Total Recall was a great movie, fantastically paced, great score and a brilliant sci-fi premise (and probably Arnie's greatest line "Consider that a divorce!" )

The remake was dull, obvious and badly cast - I've tried to watch three times and never make it through!

Proof that "VFX extravaganzas" do not make a good movie.

It was groundbreaking at the time and I think the most expensive movie ever made at that point at about $70 million.

I used to live for making of film documentaries. I also really love 80s and 90s film and tv. Things were just starting to really take off. Every movie seemed to offer it's own unique method of achieving a certain goal in practical effects and vfx.

Total Recall has been a favorite film of mine since I was a little kid.
