How to reference to Terragen in scientific literature?

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask you...so I dare doing it:

How can I reference to Terragen in the scientific literature? This is surely wrong / not enough:

I don't know the legal standards in your country or scientific institution, but if you referring to (an) image(s) made with Terragen, I would write something like "...made with Terragen X.XX.X Rendersoftware (https://planetside.co.uk)" as (a )numbered footnote(s) or under every image rendered with Terragen. If you want to use an image not made by you, I think you have to ask the artist for permission and name it with the image.

Because you own a license to Terragen, there is no legal requirement for you to attribute your renders. We certainly appreciate if you do, but you can do so in any way you like.

What exactly are you citing in literature? In most cases when citing something, reference should pertain to the subject matter you are discussing. So if you were discussing, for example, the specifics of the renderer, you could reference result images from what you are discussing, which it would be best to label them appropriately. As Oshyan said, links to Planetside or wouldn't be necessary, but would be appreciated, but you could mention the render methods used to obtain the result.

For example, let's say you are discussing Path Tracing you could label your result images with some info about how you achieved the result (like using new robust sampling or something). Additionally, in your footer you could link to the Path Tracing wiki (https://planetside.co.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Path_Tracing) or release statements about it on Planetside (https://planetside.co.uk/change-logs/terragen-4-3-16-release-change-log/).
