Trying the latest frontier version 4.4.40. I think path tracing has gotten much faster.

The model is a 3d scanned plaster head originally from "Sample&Hold".
www.sampleandhold.co.uk
They have a few free models to download.

I used three identical "Power Fractal Shaders" on the model only.
The renders only differ in the value of the "Specular Roughness" setting of the "Glass Shader".

In the "Background" node i set the colour to white.

ps: in this scene after about 30-35 minutes of rendertime Terragens CPU utilization constantly decreases.
From 96% down to 20-30% until it drops to 2-5% finally.
Of the 50plus minutes render time total in the first render the last 15-20 minutes go there.

Wouldn`t it be nice if the remaining threads could somehow be re-allocated back to the now idle cpus?
Of course, I do not have the slightest idea if anything like that is even possible. Sigh...
