Handling UV Scale with Default Shader

I was wondering what was the best way to handle UV scales? In other programs I'm able to set the scale of the texture being wraped in the UV. This can be done with the Image Map Shader when UV is selected with it's scale settings, but there isn't a option for this in the Default Shader. Is it safe to just scale it up with a transform shader?

Maybe a UV scale could be added to the Images tab.

I use a transform shader, no problem. If UV, don't set to world, obviously.
