New guy here.  I've been using T1 off-&-on for nearly a decade.  I've been wanting to download T2 but it wouldn't run on my dinosaur of a computer.  So I finally got a new one and one of the first things I did was download T2.  I was worried the node system was going to be too complex to use, but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

I went through some of the tutorials over at Design Paths, especially the Redirect and Fake Stones ones.  So I decided to put them both to use in an image.  I was going for a dry creekbed look.  The streaky colors at lower right were a lucky accident.  I was trying to make adjustments to the stones layer, but I was on the Base Colors layer instead.   It looks like water has been rushing through there.

it definitely does look like there was water here once....very nice job for the first image...although little more color variation wouldnt hurt...

and welcome to the forums! :D

Welcome aboard, and nice first image :).  I really like the detail on the left - the slight overhang adds to the impression of a dry creek bed.  If you want to take this image farther I would recommend working on the stones - they look too angular and their color is inconsistent with the rest of the scene.  You might also want to check out www.ashundar.com for some plant models that you could add into the scene.

Thanks for the welcome.  I'll have to work on a strata shader to break up the monotone of the terrain.  For the rocks, I had the pancake function cranked up. Is there a particular function that smooths things like that?

That looks a LOT better than my first TG2 render, good work!
I agree with the comments about the color-variation and the work on fake stones.
There are pretty much topics here about displacing fake stones to make them look more real.
As far as I know the pancake effect will make the stones look flatter so I'd increase the stone tallness setting to make them more round (also lowering the pancake effect will improve this effect).
Looking forward to see your improvements on this one. Keep it up!

great work mate and welcome to the forums!
The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

Welcome.  Nice work on the terrain and a good beginning...
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Like a number of people have already said, very well done first render. The only thing I would want to work on is possiblly some color variation in the rocks and making the stones more realistic. But otherwise very very well done.
