Dune

As the title says, with cormorant, avocet and a fisherman/gatherer of stuff.

mhaze

Beautifully detailed.

Jo Kariboo

Congratulations ! Very beautiful picture. The shore is very realistic. Lots of subtlety on the floors. :)

Stormlord

Looks very natural and rich in details.
The wet sand looks like a real photo, it's a top picture and excellent scene !

Beautiful detail, especially in the foreground. Maybe the small shorebirds could use another pose or two, but otherwise perfect. The lighting in your scenes is always so lovely. Is this just light overcast, or do you use anything else to lighten the shadows?

Dune

Thanks guys. Yes, the smaller shorebirds are very lowpoly, just one pose. I should make more poses and better ones, but the texturing always holds me back; tedious. Lighting is just a little cirrus and a GI of 1.4. Nothing special. Oh, and a tiny card just left of the cormorant to reflect some light on its black front.

WAS

Love the reflections with the lighting, makes it look very realistic. Great work. Old pier pylon is a good touch.

I'm not sure this is the correct forums for photography  ;)

Top notch work, as always Dune.
The more I use Terragen, the more I realize the world is not so small.

Quotethe texturing always holds me back; tedious.

Agree. That may be one of the reasons why it takes me so long to finish a scene . . . mapping and texturing are very time-consuming.

Thanks for the explanation of the lighting. Simple but it looks very nice.

Dune

Well, thanks to your critique, Steve, I did spend some time and redid my plover (Calidris maritima). Thanks for the little push.

I made 7 poses, of which 4 are included here. Only thing now is make several plumages (winter, summer, that sort of thing).

Nice update. Your background as a (non-3D) artist probably helps when it comes to painting textures. There are some some nice bird paintings on your website, as I recall.

Dune

Thanks. I've been a birdwatcher  (  ??? )  from age 13, so I know them by now. I used photo's to 'paint' these in (in ZBrush), which was a bit faster than painting, btw.

Kadri

Looks great Ulco. I like especially the foreground.

zaxxon

You are the master of subtleties, so many areas of excellence, full of quiet beauty. The birds are great!
