hey guys this is an image i was working on lately, the main shape is done in gaea and everything else is refined in terragen, hope you like it, pretty simple

Hannes

Wow, indeed calm. I like the colors a lot. And the sky is really great.

Unobtrusive, relaxing and beautiful! I like this!

so guys, one thing i find very difficult in terragen is foam, for example in my image i tried everything i could by looking at other people examples and works, to add a little bit of white foam touching the shoreline.. I really can not understand how to do this in a simple but yet convincing/photorealistic way.

Is there a solution? i would even pay for that if someone has a preset or something willing to sell. i just want to get my head around it, its been so frustrating

It depends on how you set up your terrrain, but one way is to use a 10x Y-stretched basic terrain PF for initial terrain displacement. The stretching is merely to overcome mismatch when water level isn't at zero. Then add a blue node 'displacement to scalar' as a sideline, add a color adjust, pull that to a surface shader masking input that sits in the line to the water object. So after the water shader, on a sphere or lake or plane.
Then you can adjust the black/white levels of the color adjust to match the altitude at which you want the foam. Use a PF for further breakup and/or masking.

The Y stretch fix is probably the best approach, as it does make it make sense more, but isn't necessary. You can also just use two colour adjusts, one to define the range (negative Black Point) and the other to clamp in to desired distance from shore (as negative BP means you can't use WP as a hardening adjustment in negative range).

Thanks for the help, i tried this method but it really feels off. Even at distance it looks like the terrain is sitting on top, also in some parts where i zoomed , second render, there are holes on contact, its not really a great result, probably im missing something.

You have to work on the shore itself too; some reflection, some darker shoreline, perhaps even some foam on shore, rocks, whatever.... and mask the foam by a warped voronoi fractal of size say 0.5-3-0.01.
