Still working on this one. I may just trash it and find a better POV but I do like the foreground in this one. I also think I need to make the surfacing "blend" better in some areas.

very nice...I like the ripples and as you said blend the ripples around the edges of the dunes....good work.....only thing missing would be a moon on far right side to balance the composition....

Pretty nice.  A little lighter would seem less commercial and more realistic, but it depends on what you're shooting for.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Lighter as in the surfacing or lighter as in the actual lighting? And actually DH, I meant to blend the color surfacing. I like the ripples.    ;)

Great render, especially the ripples and the trees, both very realistic. The one thing that gets me is how sharp the horizon dunes are is compared to the rest of the image. In my opinion should be softer towards the horizon at that distance.

Completely agree. That was the one thing that was really bugging me when it got done. I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do about that yet.

Tangled-Universe

This looks very good so far!
I like the ripples and dune-shapes as well. Great job! I agree with Saurav about the edge-sharpness in the distance, perhaps a little more AA?
And please do not add a moon :( I think this image doesn't need any and I doubt whether it's realistic as well.

rcallicotte

Lighter overall, except for the sky which looks pretty good.  The terrain and the trees seem a little too dark to me.

Okay, here is the updated version. I've changed the distant dunes and I've increased the lighting. I think this one has a more barren look too. Although I think I lost some of the rich color that was in the first one and that's something I want to keep.

when you say increase the lighting....what exactly do you mean by that??

I already had contrast and the exposure up on the first image. In this one I only increased the sun strength.

This is looking nice.  However, the ripples are abit too long and regular.

I am also working on sand as well.  Are the ripples procedural (ie a fractal), or image map?  It actually ain't too easy to get them to look right! ;-)

Is there grains in the sand there or are the grains to small to be scene?
