population won't cover whole mesh

Can anyone give me any clues about why my populations won't grow on parts of this mesh? I hope it's solvable and soon, deadline tomorrow!

I've tried repairing in meshlab, remeshing in ZBrush, thickening in Lightwave (so it's more solid), all sorts of stuff possible in Poseray, recalculate normals, varying the altitude of the pop in TG, but a population still won't cover all the mesh. TG bug?

I tested it, and I'm sorry: I have no idea.
I moved the population up, which was my first idea. I ran your terrain object through Poseray again and recalculated normals. I increased the size of the population. Nothing worked. :(
Too bad...

I figured it out; if you rotate the population just a wee bit, it pops (almost) all of the mesh. I vaguley remembered this issue, and it was my last resort.

Thanks for the help, Hannes!

Hannes

You're welcome.
In which axis did you rotate it?

Dune

X or Z, just 1 degree. Y doesn't help.

Yes, kind of related. Maybe that's where my vague recollection of 'rotating something' came from, don't know. Definitely still a bug in the population on objects, but luckily there's a workaround.
