Cloud Layer v3??

Just found and downloaded Terragen 4 free. I was watching the video to figure out how to import the Presets Pack volume one. I ticked on the "import images" feature thinking that that sounds like a reasonable thing to do. Then it imported like 60 more items than were in the tutorial, so I deleted everything on the list, then imported them again.

I don't know if that caused this, but now when I try to open the projects in the tutorial, I get an error:
Cloud layer 'acceleration cache' is no longer available

I looked it up and figured out that that relates to Cloud layer v3, but I can only find Cloud Layer v2.

Did I delete Cloud Layer v3? How do I fix it? I'm an absolute newb with Terragen, so be gentle, please.

I don't know exactly, but it sounds like you'd better uninstall Terragen, and reinstall, then import those items again. The stuff in the tutorial are probably presets like objects or clipfiles, which you may want to use later on, so don't delete them.
Better maybe: reinstall Terragen and first work a bit in it, get to know the layout and try making some landscapes. Plenty tutorials to check out. Later import the presets.
But as said, I never imported the presets, so I don't know what's in there.

Welcome anyway. It's fantastic software, once you get over the first hurdles.

More than likely, the assets in the Preset Pack were created in an older version of Terragen.

The "acceleration cache" is an older feature that has been removed from recent versions of Terragen.  This is what's causing the warning message.

The project should still render correctly.  If you save the project using the latest version of Terragen, then load it again, the warning message should no longer appear.

Well.. THAT is interesting.. should I have a Cloud Layer v4 or something then?? Again, my research led me to the problem being that I am missing Cloud Layer v3, so..?? I do have a Cloud Layer v2, but that's the only one I see.

I did that. I was stunned when I started the program after the uninstall, and it kept my library from the previous install!

I'm not really sure where to go from here, though.

There are three types of cloud layers in Terragen 4: Cloud layer v2, Cloud layer v3, and Easy Clouds.

In the Node Network pane, if you right click on the Atmosphere node you'll see a drop down list of the three cloud types.  Selecting one of these items will add that specific cloud type to the project.

Also, in the online documentation for Easy Clouds, you can see which of the cloud layer presets are specifically Easy Clouds:

If you need to purge your Library you can do so via the Edit > Preferences option in the main menu.  Then select the Library option in the Preferences window that opens.

Ok, I see the Cloud Layer v3 listed in there.. so WHY am I getting that error?? I assume my analysis of the root cause was incorrect, but how do I make it go away?

Should somebody republish that package without the errors in it?

In the latest version of Terragen, if I load the "example_scene_terrain_spires_stormy_skies" project file from the Presets pack the Errors and Warnings window pops up like this:

If I resave the project file, and then reload it...no more Errors and Warnings!

Amazing! After I saved it, I had to close the program to close the project and open it again, and it lost the preview image (for the project). How do I get that back?

Heh, I stumbled in to my own answer:
