Just a heads up that CGTalk is on one of its annual challenges again. This time the theme is "Uplift Universe".

Click on this link for more details.

The interesting part of all this is that SOFTIMAGE is offering all contestants a FREE copy of XSI Essentials 6.5 for use in this contest, which you can keep if you finish!

And if you go here you can find a rather nice FREE little plugin that makes trees in a very similar way to Xfrog.

I think it may also be pretty cool to see some sweet TG backdrops used in this Challenge.

I have a question about CGTalk which is why do they want so much personnel information when you join up, information that security and on line privacy experts say you shouldn't give out? This information includes your home address, Zip Code (Post Code else where in the world) and Phone Number among other things I could understand over a secure HTTPS channel say if you where buying some thing, but it dose not state why this information is required for registration?  ???

Regards to you.

I don't know why they ask for personal info. I'm guessing they would like you to join their little club so they sell you stuff. I've been a member for years and never felt intruded upon. I guess if they're giving stuff away every now and then the supplier (in this case Soft Image) would like some data in return but I dont think they generally ask for anything too sensitive.
